Memories of family and memories of work. I remember my Grandfather and his passion for photography. I remember my English Grandmother and her collection of notebooks. I remember the hours spent inside printshops, the smell of ink, the feel of paper, the noise of the machines and the voices of their operators. Rue du Bouquet grew from my desire to pay tribute to these people and these places.
We live in a world of images and in their constant flow work of quality is quickly overwhelmed by quantity. I wanted to find a way of picking out the work of independent photographers from the mass. This grew into an idea of creating a medium through which photographs become things that we carry with us all the time.
Inspiration, when it came, was as natural as it was original. From each photographer's work five images have been selected; these become notebook covers. Within, a notebook for you to set down your own thoughts, writing and drawings. The result; photographs and writing bound into a single beautiful object.
Produced in one of the last Parisian printing houses, Rue Du Bouquet notebooks are printed on 340g and 120g quality velvet finish bond paper. From calibration under the watchful eye of the photographer, to binding using saddle stitch techniques, our byword is detail. In addition, each notebook contains a postcard presenting the photographer's work.
